We need you! — Update on the Seeds of Unity Gamefound

Reading time
Altered is a place where people come together.
We met a player during the Worlds Championship, and she put it better than anyone:
“I’m not here to win. I choose to come because here, I can breathe freely.”
That’s what Altered is all about: paths that cross, kindred spirits recognizing each other, stories that keep unfolding. It’s a bond we’ve built together. And because we want to stay true to that bond, to the trust you’ve placed in us, we’d like to share a first look at how this new distribution model is shaping up.
Where we stand
Since the campaign began, we’ve often been asked the same question: “How much do you need to keep the adventure running smoothly?”
To give a clear answer: our overall goal is around €2.5 million.
This figure includes not just the Gamefound campaign but also the orders placed by LGS through the dedicated retailer platform. The numbers on this platform are still low, and that’s perfectly normal at this stage. Most shops will wait until the final days to confirm their quantities, giving them time to gather preorders from their players and accurately assess their stock needs for the February release.
This is why we won’t have a full picture of preorders until we get closer to November 10.
What about the initial 50k goal and the “1000% funded”?
The funding goal displayed on Gamefound is symbolic, as it usually is in crowdfunding campaigns. It’s chosen to help build early momentum but doesn’t reflect our actual needs. Setting the bar too high sometimes makes a project feel out of reach, while a more accessible goal helps get the collective energy moving right from the start.
Why share this now?
Altered has never been just our project: it’s also yours. We want everyone to have a clear understanding of the situation.
As mentioned, we don’t yet have an exact picture of the total number of retailer preorders. That means there’s a scenario where the combined total of Gamefound and store preorders falls short of what’s needed for the project to continue with the quality we aim for.
And since some of you may still be hesitating, we felt it was important to say it plainly: if you believe in Altered, if you want to see the game keep growing, now is the moment when your support matters most, whether that’s by backing the campaign on Gamefound or preordering through your local store.
We’d rather be transparent today than find out tomorrow that some of you wanted to take part but missed the chance.
Why this amount?
That figure isn’t symbolic. It’s the balance point where Altered can keep developing in the right conditions: without compromising the team, the quality, or the ambition of the game.
Today, Altered includes: 25 team members, dozens of talented artists, significant digital costs (development, servers, maintenance, BGA, unique cards), a game published in 5 languages, and of course production, illustration, shipping, and marketing costs, not to mention conventions and an ambitious Organized Play program.
What if the campaign doesn’t reach the goal?
You may be wondering: “What if the campaign doesn’t reach 2.5 million?” In that case, the adventure will come to an end, and both backers and retailers will of course be refunded.
That decision wouldn’t be giving up, but a clear choice. The choice not to betray what Altered stands for, or the people who made it possible. Altered was built on trust, not on surprise.
Now it’s your move!
That’s the context. That’s our reality. The campaign isn’t over yet, and everything is still possible. Now you know where we stand. Retail preorders are progressing at their own pace; stores have until November 10 to finalize their orders, and players until November 14 through the pledge manager.
If you want to give Altered every chance to continue under the best possible conditions, this is the time to help build that future. Whether by backing the campaign or preordering through your local store.
Not out of obligation or pressure, but out of desire. The desire to see this project grow, to keep building it together, with the same dedication, sincerity, and respect.
Thank you for being here, whether since day one or since yesterday.
