Suha, Qorgan Operative

By accepting the Qorgan's offer, Suha got to see what was down the rabbit hole.

Story

393 AC - I remove the face of the Legate now that I'm alone in the back room. It's highly unlikely that anyone would remember that face, which was stolen over 30 years ago. But there's still a risk of running into someone who once knew it. I'll need to be quick. I go through the parchments and letters piled up on the desk, remembering what Yanna told me. Some have been opened, and I glance over them rapidly. Other parchments are stacked in piles, obviously just dumped on the desk by a clerk from the archives. I find one that bears Avkan's personal seal, and I immediately open it. It's a letter, presumably to the attention of Bai Shan-shu. Actually, it's a summons. I take a closer look.

I grab a candle and light its wick. It would be unfortunate if the Rear Admiral were to lay eyes on this information. If she did, her life would be in even more danger than it already is. The flame starts to devour the old piece of paper, and I make sure the contents can no longer be read before brushing away the ashes. Working for the Qorgan had its advantages, but I could now feel the weight of all the lies weighing on my shoulders. Secrets were too often used as the basis for the official story, and it was sometimes hard to live with such chilling clarity. Deep down, I tell myself that Zhen should forget about the past, but at the same time, I understand all too well what motivates her…
