The preparations are beginning! Altered is hosting its World Championships this Fall 2025, a celebration of a year of play and competitive events that will crown the top Altered players, and the World Champion.

You can participate in these World Championships by following the official competitive circuit, which consists of several stages:

  • World Championship Qualifiers: From June to September 2025, these events, organized by our partners in many countries around the world as well as on Board Game Arena, will allow 24 players to qualify for the Worlds.
  • Last Chance Qualifier: A final qualification phase organized in France just before the Worlds will offer the most determined players the last 8 spots in the Finals.
  • World Championship Finals: Come and experience the most captivating Altered event of the year at the Finals, a festive and community event that will crown the Altered World Champion.

Many rewards await you throughout your journey: promotional cards, exclusive playmats, and if you qualify for the World Championships, no matter where you are, we'll cover your ticket to Paris, the city of the Finals!

Find Your World Championship Qualifier


A World Championship Qualifier (or WCQ) is a tournament that allows you to qualify for the World Championship Finals. These events are organized all over the world in many countries—there's surely one you can participate in!

You're not limited to just one attempt! If you wish, you can participate in as many events as you'd like until you secure your qualification.

Zoetermeer, Netherlands • June 28, 2025 • 128 Players


Get ready for the first WCQ of the summer on June 28, 2025, in Zoetermeer, Netherlands. Hosted by the Dutch Altered Community (DAC) at the Spel en Meer store, this event can welcome up to 128 players, and 1 person will qualify for the World Championship Finals.

Transportation

Spel en Meer is accessible by car and has several parking lots nearby. The store is also accessible by public transport—simply get off at the Zoetermeer Stadshuis station, which is less than a 5-minute walk away.

  • From The Hague (Den Haag): Take Tram 3 (rather than the train) and get off at Zoetermeer Stadshuis.
  • From Utrecht: Take the train to Lansingerland-Zoetermeer, then Tram 4 to Zoetermeer Stadshuis.

Lille, France • July 5-6, 2025 • 1024 Players

Join the biggest WCQ of this season July 5th and 6th, 2025, in Lille, France. Organized by Ludotrotter at Lille Grand Palais, this event can host up to 1024 players and will qualify 4 individuals for the World Championship Finals.

  • Lille's two train stations, Lille Europe and Lille Flandres, are both a 10-minute walk from Lille Grand Palais.
  • Lille Grand Palais is accessible by Metro on Line 2 by exiting at the Lille-Grand Palais station.

Accommodation

Lille Grand Palais is a central and easily accessible destination, whether on foot or by public transport. Don't hesitate to look for accommodation outside of Lille Centre and even outside of Lille for your stay.

Germany also gets its own WCQ this summer, on July 26, 2025, in Essen. Organized by the White Rabbit Community Game Store, this event can host up to 128 players and will qualify 1 individual for the World Championship Finals.
