From Local Champion to World's Best.

Following the opening of Asgartha’s gates last September, the brave explorers of the Tumult have intensified their efforts in the exploration. Your first major step was the Tumult Championship, where you faced off against the most skilled players in your region and encountered the champions from various local stores in exciting tournaments.

But your journey doesn't conclude here; it's truly just the start, and we are thrilled to introduce the World Championship competitive circuit, launching in June 2025.

Competitive Circuit Stages

The Altered World Championships in 2025 will use a multi-stage global competitive circuit to ensure fair qualification for all players, regardless of location, offering a clear and accessible path to the highest level of competition through three key phases.

  • World Championship Qualifiers

The first steps of the World Championships are the World Championship Qualifiers (June-September 2025), held locally with partners and online via Board Game Arena. These events will give top national players a direct path to the finals, and a total of 24 players worldwide will qualify through these physical and virtual competitions.

  • Last Chance Qualifier

A Last Chance Qualifier will be held in France in Autumn 2025 during the same event as the World Championship Finals themselves, offering an opportunity for determined players to win one of the last 8 spots, joining the 24 already qualified.

  • World Championship Finals

The World Championship Finals, the highlight of Altered's first competitive year, will be held in France the day after the Last Chance Qualifier. This final event aims to be a major community celebration of Altered's first anniversary, where the first World Champion will be crowned.

Rewards

Rewards may vary depending on the specific championship and the partner responsible for its organization. We wanted to give you a sneak peek at the exclusive prizes you will have the opportunity to win by participating in the Altered qualifying championships. More information regarding how to obtain each of these rewards will be coming soon. The reward plan will be communicated directly by your tournament organizer.

Therefore, we will host three online qualifiers on Board Game Arena, across three different time zones, open to all BGA account holders.

More Info

  • Comprehensive rules & tournament policies

To build the most engaging competitive championship, we're refining our comprehensive rules & policies. We're collaborating with key members of the judge community to update and streamline these resources, making them more user-friendly for all tournament organizers involved in Altered events.
We will also be reviewing our tournament guidelines and releasing an updated documentation package that includes key modifications we believe are essential for a healthier competitive circuit.

  • Judge program

The Judge Program is being established, and this first year of competitive play will be vital in shaping its key foundations. We are collaborating with members of the judge community to propose a program that rewards players who dedicate themselves to the game's judge program, offering fair prizes and recognizing their skills. More information will arrive in a dedicated communication later this year.

  • Broadcasting opportunities

We believe a strong broadcasting plan is essential to showcase the highest level of competition in our World Championship Qualifiers.
