Tumult Championships are back! From August 15, 2025 to September 14, 2025, dive deeper than you’ve ever been and face The Hunger, the very soul of the City of Scholars. Gather in your local game store and claim the title of Tumult Champion or come back to defend your seat!

Something is calling from deep within the labyrinth—something that has been awakened and should have been left well alone. The last of the labyrinth’s secrets has been unveiled and there is no going back now, for it is starving and threatening the whole City.

Whispers from the Maze Tumult Championships are the most prestigious in-store Organized Play events. These Standard Constructed BO1 events are open to all players and all submitted decks must follow Standard Constructed construction guidelines and legality.

The way down is filled with secrets and treasures, but only the most daring will be able to come face to face with The Hunger and walk back to the surface with one of the following rewards:

Lead your Faction to face the very soul of the city and become the Tumult Champion to claim this Whispers from the Maze Champion Playmat. Fabricated by Gamegenic, this playmat has stitched edges, features the Tumult Champion grid design and the illustration of The Hunger, the mad entity lurking in the darkest corners of the underground city.

Each player in the Top 8 will receive a Whispers from the Maze Foil Adventure Pack. Thicker than usual Adventure Cards for a better feeling when you flip them over, these sets are extra durable and are the only available foil version of these cards. Nothing has ever gone wrong finding shiny treasures in the dark.

Faction rewards are back as well and better than ever! We’ve moved beyond the Oversized Faction Scout Cards. This time around, Faction Champion Cards are iconic and playable cards from the set, stamped with the Tumult Champion title. The top player from each faction will receive their Faction Champion card, so play your favorite faction and claim yours!

Deep within the labyrinth, in corridors even light dares not enter, lurks the one we call the Hunger.

It prowls in the shadows, hunting every last drop of Sap. And when it finds none, it drinks from our memories, gnaws at our minds, scraping away our very souls to feed the endless famine that consumes it.

I know the Factions remain divided on what must be done. The Yzmir, the Bravos and the Axiom demand its utter destruction. The Ordis, the Muna and the Lyra plead for redemption, hoping to reclaim what it once was—before madness took it—the wise heart of the City of Scholars.

Tumult Championship Community Events are your chance to shape the story and influence the current narrative. During Tumult events, the decks you play with can impact the conclusion of the story but also the Tumult Reward Card unlocked for all players.

The Hunger will be at the center of the Whispers from the Maze Community Event. Once the noble embodiment of the City of Scholars, it has since been corrupted by its ceaseless need to consume Sap, a mysterious golden substance that used to flow throughout the city.

The Factions do not align on how to face The Hunger—while some would like to find a respectful and peaceful conclusion, others deem the danger too great and are ready to eradicate it entirely. Which Faction will gain the upper hand in this conflict, and which side will prevail? This is up to you.

To ensure every faction gets a fair shot at the Tumult Reward Card, we’re implementing an additional condition for the Whispers from the Maze Community Event. The top faction will determine the city's fate, according to the side it belongs to :

• Yzmir, Bravos and Axiom are looking to eradicate The Hunger
• Ordis, Muna and Lyra are looking for a way to appease The Hunger

However, the Tumult Reward Card will go to the two best-performing factions that haven't already won a reward for this current reward cycle. This time around, this excludes Ordis and Yzmir.

When a player wins an event, their deck’s faction gains 1 point. By the end of The Hunger Community Event :

• The faction with the most points will unlock Sofia, The First Outpost, a brand-new landmark, in its Common and Rare versions
• The faction that comes in second will unlock the out of faction Rare card design of Sofia, The First Outpost

All current and future Altered players will be rewarded with the three versions of the card, Common, Rare and Rare-F in their digital collection, available through Print-on-demand.

Starting today, stores have the option to choose the Tumult event type when creating an event. As a player, you can now filter events in the Event Locator to show only Tumult Championship events. Register as usual and make sure to do so on your store’s website as well.

Tumult Championship events count towards your Adventure Pass progression and you can attend as many events as you like.

As a store, Tumult Championship events offer your players a chance to get exclusive rewards, play at the highest level of competition in stores and shape the future of Altered! To organize an event, here’s what you need to know.

• Contact your Altered distribution partner to let them know you want to organize a Tumult Championship. They will let you know the procedure needed to receive a Tumult kit.
• Once your distribution partner has validated your registration to the Tumult Championships, you can start creating your event with our Event Manager.
  • Remember to select the Tumult event type when creating your event so players can find it more easily ! Events without the Tumult event type will not count towards the Community Event total.
  • When your event is created, you can advertise it, register your players and track results through your usual means.
• It’s very important that you go through your distribution partner first when organizing a Tumult Championship as this is the only way to get the Tumult Championship Kit rewards.

• Based on the number of players your event has, we recommend you apply the following guidelines.

  • Format: standard constructed best-of-1
  • Round duration: 30 minutes
  • Tournament structure : Swiss rounds
    • Up to 8 Players: 4 Rounds (2 hours)
    • 9-16 Players: 5 Rounds (2.5 hours)
    • 17-32 Players: 6 Rounds (3 hours)
    • 33-64 Players: 7 Rounds (3.5 hours)
    • 65-128 Players: 8 Rounds (4 hours)

• At the end of the Swiss rounds, the top 8 players should be seeded into a single elimination bracket to determine a winner (estimated 1h30 - 2h).

• Note: we strongly suggest tournament organisers stick to this event structure and use a tournament software such as melee.gg to keep track of the rounds. In case they would make a different choice, players should be clearly warned in advance and the tournament organizer must ensure that a clear and undisputed Top 8 and Top 1 exist at the end of the event, as the prize structure is meant to be distributed this way.

• We encourage stores to verify the compliance of decks for players qualifying for the Top 8 at the end of the Swiss rounds.

• If a deck list does not comply with Altered deckbuilding rules, we recommend disqualifying its owner from the Top 8 and allowing the next highest-ranked player to take their place. However, the final decision rests with the judge present at the tournament.

• If you have arbitration doubts or questions before your event, don’t hesitate to join our official Discord server and ask your questions in the rules-and-wording channel dedicated to rules discussions.

• When it is over, remember to validate your event and fill in your winner’s faction for The Hunger Community Event.
